I was honestly a little nervous at first, but the resort made everything feel easy and welcoming. The slopes were beginner-friendly, so I never felt overwhelmed or pressured. The accommodations were another big plus. Everything was clean, comfortable, and super convenient, which made it really nice to come back and relax after a long day on the slopes. It felt cozy and well taken care of. The best part of the experience, though, were the ski instructors and manager Take and Charlie. They were incredibly nice, patient, and supportive. They explained things clearly, didn’t rush me, and actually made learning fun. As a beginner, having instructors like that made a huge difference in my confidence. Overall, 8 Peaks was an awesome place to learn how to ski. Our instructor Charlie was great at teaching and made everything feel easy and fun. We learned how to ski way faster than we expected because of him, and he kept the lessons light and enjoyable the whole time. Also excellent service from Take, Kutomi, and Yuta. They were super helpful whenever we had issues with our skis, kept checking up on us, and Take even took great photos for us, which we really appreciated. Every concern was handled right away. Every concern was addressed immediately. Best ski area of you want an authentic Japanse ski vacation. We were here on a Japanese holiday week but crowd was manageable. 15 min lines for the lifts. Night and day compared to the known overcrowded Japanese ski resorts that tourists flock to. Take and Yuta went out of their way to shuttle us around to different slopes at our request, and made sure we had all the gear we needed. There are over 8 different mountains to ski nearby, and some of the most incredible scenery I have seen. We were a large group, but the organisation of 8 peaks made it feel like nothing was too difficult to ask for. Our first time to 8 Peaks which I understand has only just been opened up to "outsiders". A great hidden gem. Take and Yuta went out of their way to make us feel welcome and to assist us in making our stay a great one. Great to be able to ski 4 different ski areas in 4 days, all in relatively close proximity. Accommodation was more than satisfactory, great service and hospitality. From the moment we arrived at 8-Peaks, we were blown away by the level of service, hospitality, and world-class skiing. This resort is an absolute dream for skiers and snowboarders of all levels. The resort manager, Take Watanabe, went above and beyond to make our stay perfect. From the warm welcome at check-in to the personalized recommendations for dining and activities, every detail was handled with care. Take even arranged for our lift passes and ski rentals in advance, making our first day on the slopes seamless. The ski terrain was fantastic, with perfectly groomed runs and breathtaking mountain views. Whether you’re a beginner or an advanced skier, there are trails for everyone. The high-speed lifts and gondolas made getting around the mountain a breeze, and we never had to wait long in line - if at all! Our room at Ikenotaira Hotel was spacious, elegantly designed, and offered stunning views of the snow-covered peaks & frozen lake. After a long day of skiing, the resort’s onsen was pure magic – soaking in the natural hot springs while surrounded by snow was a highlight of the trip! 8 Peaks is a 5-star ski experience. We are so thankful to Take for making our visit absolutely unforgettable. The snow, the weather, the 6 ski fields, the hotel (Ikenotaira), the views, the team (esp Take and Hiro), the ski school, the food, the value...pretty hard to fault anything really. It was a perfect week for the family and we are all dead keen to return. The inclusive package book through Pitt Travel Sydney included accommodation, lift passes, breakfast, dinner and shuttle bus transfers to and from the nearest JR station made it easy, giving us more time to enjoy the ski resorts and beautiful surroundings of Shirakaba Lake. Our accommodation at the lake front lodging house called Little Grebe was fabulous, newly renovated, our bedroom was spacious for four people and spoilt with amazing views of frozen Shirakaba Lake. The lodge is short walk (approximately 600m) from the village Centre where the Ikenotaria Hotel, Lawson, amusement centre, public pool and bowling alley are located – great for afternoon walk. The breakfast and dinners offerings were delicious with generous portions. Over 5 nights we had 3 x 5 course French dinners and 2 authentic Japanese dinners. The owners of Little Grebe were super lovely and very accommodating. We found out on our last day that the son is the town’s former ski cross champion, Godai Fukui – that was pretty cool. 8 Peaks Resort made it easy to book snow gear hire, that was arranged prior to arrival and online booking for private snowboard lessons. Our snowboard lesson was at the Shirakaba2in1 Ski Resort, Jarrod Cameron was great, the kids really liked him. The staff at 8 Peaks were amazing, Yuta and Take, they went out of their way to arrange shuttle times each day for specific ski resorts. We only got to visit 2 out of the 8 ski resorts with the Pilatus Tatshina being my favourite because of the ropeway up to 2,531m. The view of the alpine highlands was spectacular. My son also had an snowboarding accident which needed treatment at the local hospital, 8 Peaks Resort staff was extremely accommodating in assisting us with hospital logistics. I cannot thank them enough for their assistance. They were super helpful in getting us set up with our ski gear and making sure we had everything we needed for an amazing experience on the slopes. Their hospitality really made a difference, and it was clear they genuinely cared about making our trip as smooth and enjoyable as possible. The resort itself is stunning, surrounded by breathtaking mountain views that made every moment feel surreal. Whether we were carving down the slopes or just taking in the scenery, it was impossible not to be in awe of the natural beauty around us. The onsen was an incredible experience as well. The rest offers many slopes at various levels ranging from beginner to expert. Exploring the different slopes was an adventure in itself, with each trail offering something unique. I went with a group of mates, and we all agreed it was one of the best ski trips we’ve ever had. If you’re looking for a resort that combines top-notch service with breathtaking scenery and fantastic skiing, I can’t recommend this place enough. Already looking forward to coming back!
